The International Cooperation for Convergence of Technical Requirements for the Assessment of Feed Ingredients (ICCF) Steering Committee launched a public consultation for its draft guidance document on “Genotoxicity testing.” Interested stakeholders are invited to provide their comments on this guidance document by December 31, 2020.

IFIF is a founding member of ICCF, which aims to establish common guidance across different international jurisdictions, which cover technical requirements for the assessment of feed ingredients, including new uses of existing feed ingredients. This important international collaboration is the result of a collaborative effort to bring together feed regulators and industry feed associations to work on mechanisms that help facilitate free and fair trade of feed ingredients while supporting the safety of the feed and food chain and sustainably meeting the globally growing demand for animal products.

This draft guides applicants by providing the relevant information necessary for the safety evaluation of feed ingredients. It provides an approach to how tests should be organized, as well as a description of the tests themselves.

The guidance document builds on existing guidance documents and was developed by a panel of experts drawn from the ICCF founding members. The ICCF public consultation can be accessed here.
