GMP+ International updated its GMP+ Feed Certification scheme to make it simpler and easier. The GMP+ FSA and GMP+ FRA modules have been rewritten and simplified in structure. Readability has improved and there is more focus on the goal to be achieved and less on the process, according to GMP+.

The changes were mainly due to the merging of requirements from different standards. The scheme follows the general structure of ISO 22000 as far as possible. The high level of feed safety of the GMP+ FC scheme has been retained and, although ISO 22000 has been followed, the HACCP system has not been modified in the GMP+ FC scheme.

Companies that are currently certified under the current requirements will remain so. GMP+-certified companies will only move to the GMP+ FC scheme 2020 following consultations with the Certification Body. From March 1, 2021, there will be a transition period of 3.5 years.
