The second session of Skretting’s FISH Great Talks will take place on June 24 with Robbert Blonk, R&D director at Hendrix Genetics, discussing gene editing and gene modification in non-GMO fish. The session will take place in a hybrid format, streamed from a studio that will link up with international guests.

The session will be moderated by Rodrigo Torrijo, general manager of Hendrix Genetics Chile. “We are proud present again at Skretting Chile's FISH Great Talks and this year in a much more participatory way, with the opportunity to share the global vision and commitment to sustainability that we have, through the experience and practice of our global R&D department. This is an opportunity to understand how new technologies help the profitability of the business, how they help and facilitate work in sanitary terms, with the reduction of the impact of diseases, improvements in growth in a balanced way and without affecting the quality of the fish,” Torrijo said.

Claudio Larraín, commercial manager of Hendrix Genetics Chile, said that the session will discuss “the potential of genetics as a tool for productive improvement and business efficiency, showing what are the new technologies to make improvements from genes.”

Registration for this new session will be open soon.

FISH Great Talks is organized by Skretting and annually brings together interesting guests to address topics related to innovation, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, research and development, among other topics of interest to the aquaculture industry.

The initiative has been supported by DSM, Hendrix Genetics and Scale AQ as sponsors since its inception and began on April 22 with a talk from Joost Matthijssen, director of Venturing of Nutreco, who gave a global perspective on disruptive innovations and international collaboration.
