The Marine Ingredients Organisation will hold a free webinar focused on the global and Vietnamese marine ingredients supply chain. The webinar, to be held on July 14, 2021, will consist of several individual presentations in both English and Vietnamese, starting at 9 am CET and 2 pm Hanoi time.

Starting with a keynote speech about planning marine aquaculture in Vietnam, from Luan Tran Dinh, director general of the Directorate of Fisheries at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (Vietnam), the webinar will feature presentations from leading scientists and representatives of both the fishmeal and the aquaculture industry, from Skretting, Kanematsu Vietnam and Tongwei Vietnam to the Global Seafood Alliance. Global market dynamics, aquatic product output and trade will be addressed, as well as Vietnam’s feed production and Vietnam’s fishmeal consumption in China. IFFO will also provide insights on market access to China, especially MOA licenses, and will deliver a global overview of the latest marine ingredients market trends.

Maggie Xu, director of IFFO China, said that “with an estimated fishmeal consumption of between 200,000 - 250,000 tons per year, Vietnam is an important player worldwide. Aquafeed absorbs almost 85% of the total fishmeal annually consumed in Vietnam, while the pig sector consumes another 13.4%. The domestic fish oil consumption is also significant at around 120,000 tons per year, with the domestic pig feed industry absorbing most of the fish oil.”
