BIG FISH trials show benefits for Yellow Perch

Environmental and microbial challenges lead to higher mortality and sickness, muscle degradation, lower feed efficiency and decreased average daily gain.

Through the use of Aova Technologies BIG FISH, gut enzymes that would otherwise over-stimulate the immune system and produce unwanted side effects are neutralized, leading to improved gut health.

While other products target specific gut micro-flora, BIG FISH, through a unique mode of action, utilizes its patented hyper-immunized egg product to support gut health.  This leads to a higher availability of energy and nutrients that can be dedicated to efficient growth.  Producers can expect to see faster, more efficient growth, better production, healthier fish and an impeoved bottom line.

BIG FISH delivers value in several ways.  Research trials have shown consistent results with improvements in average daily gain, feed efficiency and growth uniformity when compared to control fish.  A recent growth trial was completed at a major U.S. university to test the effects of Aova’s BIG FISH feed additive on the growth of juvenile Yellow Perch.  Fish were split into two treatment groups: a control and 0.30% BIG FISH powder.  Twelve tanks were stocked with 7-10 fish with an initial weight of 2.5-2.9g.  The feed used was Silver Cup extruded steelhead diet (45% protein, 16% fat) supplemented with either control egg powder or BIG FISH and top-coated with 1% vegetable oil.  The fish were fed a fixed ration that was adjusted as the fish grew.

As shown in the graph above, the Yellow Perch that received a diet supplemented with BIG FISH started to show their growth improvement at around 50 days. By the end of the trial at 150 days, the BIG FISH group had out grown the control group by 29% (body weight 36.4 g vs. 28.2g). Furthermore, feed conversion ratio (FCR) was also improved with BIGFISH supplementation (2.87 for BIG FISH vs. 3.03 for control).
