BioExx accepts first delivery of canola seed

Bio-Extraction Inc. announced its Saskatoon canola processing facility received its first delivery of canola this week in preparation for the commencement of processing. First production is expected next week with the first product shipments expected to occur within about one week thereafter.  The specialty extraction facility will process canola to produce protein concentrates for the aquaculture and specialty animal feed markets, as well as canola oil and meal.

The company hosted visits by both of its contracted canola oil and meal customers during the week of February 9th. Both customers expressed their enthusiasm about the significant progress BioExx had made in meeting its milestones during the nine months since breaking ground in May 2008, and also with the quality and latitude of the operational processes, as well as the high-calibre team that BioExx has assembled at the site.

BioExx will be producing certified non-GMO oil and meal from the outset of production and will soon follow with certified kosher products. A great deal of effort has been put forth to observe the HACCP (Hazards Analysis Critical Control Points) program as well as ISO 22000:2005 International Auditable Standard Systems - Food Safety Management System, which meet the FDA (United States), CFIA (Canada), and GMP Plus (Europe) standards for good manufacturing practices in food production and food safety. This enables BioExx to supply both domestic and international markets, and is also consistent with the BioExx mission to be a specialty producer of natural food oils and high-value proteins.

"We've brought this project a very long way on a very tight schedule in this past year, and we remain pleased and proud of our performance in this regard. The effort of the entire team has been nothing short of exceptional and we are all very excited about the imminent start-up of the plant," said Chris Carl, BioExx CEO.

Headquartered in Toronto, Canada, BioExx is a leading technology company focused on the extraction of oil and high-value proteins from oilseeds for the global food market. BioExx' patented technology allows for the use of significantly lower temperatures than conventional methods in extracting the active ingredients and oils from oilseeds, resulting in higher yields and higher-quality meal, oils and proteins. BioExx' low energy requirements, environmentally sound process, and high-yield production have the potential to make a valuable contribution in alleviating food scarcity.
