USA - AFIA’s first Regulatory Training Short Course: What’s What in Feed, Ingredient and Pet Food Regulations
The American Feed Industry Association is looking forward to opening its office doors on September 28-29, 2009, when it holds the first-ever Regulatory Training Short Course: What’s What in Feed, Ingredient and Pet Food Regulations. The two-day conference, will focus on the latest regulations affecting the livestock feed and pet food industry. The course is designed for professionals who wish to learn more about how the industry’s products are regulated by states and the federal government.
Participants will listen to presentations by industry experts and government officials in the comfort of the AFIA offices in Arlington, Va. Speakers will include industry leaders such as Dr. Dan McChesney of the Food and Drug Administration/Center of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Joyce Bowling of the APHIS and Dr. Sharon Benz (and/or Dr. Mika Alewynse) of FDA CVM. This is an open forum so there will be opportunities to direct questions and comments to the presenters.
Quite simply, there is no formal process for the training of regulatory feed professionals in the United States. Instead, regulatory officials tend to have a nutrition or quality background, but no one source teaches how to deal with the regulatory requirements governing feed. Therefore, AFIA has developed this program to train regulatory professionals on how to deal with feed-related regulatory issues. Whether you’re a novice in the regulatory field or an experienced professional, this program provides an opportunity to advance your knowledge.
