AquaVision 2004, the unique global business conference for modern aquaculture, will focus on the steps necessary to make the Blue Revolution sustainable by achieving the transformation from production driven to consumer led.

The 2004 conference, which will be held  June 22–24, in Stavanger, Norway, is the fifth in this successful series that began in 1996. Each conference has been attended by 300–400 delegates representing all interests in modern aquaculture, from feed manufacturers and fish producers, to retailers, consumers, ministers and other politicians, scientists and NGOs.

At AquaVision 2004 a keynote address by an industry leader will be followed by four sessions of presentations and debates to tackle key challenges on the road to sustainability.

Session 1: The licence to operate can only be granted when issues such as environmental impact, animal welfare, food safety and the sustainable consumption of resources have been resolved.

Session 2: Economic stability requires effective management of risk and the supply/demand balance through the value chain.

Session 3: Separating today’s facts from fallacies and old news is essential in presenting a valid image of modern aquaculture to consumers, legislators, the media and society in general.

Session 4: If modern aquaculture is to continue its expansion and make a significant contribution to feeding the world, as many believe it can and should, it must identify and secure sustainable resources with which to build.

What, where and when

AquaVision is a leading global aquaculture business forum, bringing together decision makers, politicians, farmers, processors, retailers, media and other stakeholders to discuss, debate, exchange ideas and build networks.

The conference is organised by Nutreco Aquaculture in co-operation with EUROFISH which has developed from the FAO EASTFISH project (United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization), BASF and Fish Farming International and Seafood International magazines.

AquaVision 2004 will be held in the center of Stavanger in southern Norway, easily accessible by air and a centre of aquaculture in a leading aquaculture country.

The conference opens on Tuesday June 22, 2004 and runs through to early afternoon on  June 24, allowing Europe-based delegates to return home that day.
