FeedConcepts - a new service for feed manufacturers

FeedConcepts offers animal nutrition, marketing and management as a worldwide service

“There are lots of consultants with clever advice, some are even very good. But what the industry seeks, is someone to do the job“, says Mike Spandern, the founder.

”The scale or different main focus of a business may not allow employing a nutritionist for product development and sales. Outsourcing these tasks provides an attractive solution“. This service might cover contract feed formulation or manage a complete project.

Mike Spandern studied agribusiness and graduated with an M.Sc. in agricultural science, with a focus on animal nutrition. Spandern started his industry career in sales, product development and nutrition for a large feed compounder and grain elevator in Northern Germany.

To serve the industry from the other side of the desk Spandern joined the feed additive and ethanol business as a sales manager in Germany and later relocated to Seattle.

Spandern now teaches a graduate class in 'commercial aspects of feed production' but he also remains a student himself, working on his Master in Brewing and Distilling at Heriot-Watt in Scotland. Understanding the need for custom outsourcing service and management support he founded FeedConcepts.

The target customers are manufacturers of feeds and co-products as well as engineering companies and non-profit organisations.

"I am using a network of experts for questions in details and focus on the more holistic approach myself.” Since FeedConcepts also takes responsibility for management functions, the ideas can be implemented effectively.
