Alltech, producer of natural technologies for the feed, food, and alcohol industries, has established its first base of operations in Quebec, headed up by Steve Laycock.

Laycock has worked in the North American agribusiness industry for 14 years and has excellent experience with the Quebec feed industry having worked with many key organizations while he was GM of Rhone-Poulenc Animal Nutrition-Canada.

Alltech products have been manufactured and sold in Canada for over 15 years. In 1999 the company's first major Canadian manufacturing commitment was made, the acquisition of a 80,000 sq ft spray drying facility in Alexandria, located half way between Ottawa and Montreal.

This facility today is working at full capacity with finished product supplying over 25 markets including Canada and the US.

“We are planning on having the Quebec feed industry play a much more critical part of our Canadian business plan. We see an excellent fit between our current and emerging product portfolio and the agri-food sector in Quebec” states Dr. Pearse Lyons, owner and President of Alltech Inc.

"We are also excited about the current development of the Alexandria site into one of our four global Bioscience centers. Over the years we had had a solid working relationships with a number of key research facilities and universities in Quebec and other agriculture centers in Canada. But now we plan to grow these business relationships and will be informing the industry of our plans in the coming months. It is important to us that our technologies are proven by the best scientists in the world and that these centers help uncover novel products and applications."

Laycock will be supported by the Alltech Quebec team, including Emma Smadja (customer service), Julie Rice (customer support) and Billy Frey (marketing), with immediate plans to enhance this team with some dedicated technical support for the Quebec market.

The group will also be supported by other Alltech offices and technical staff throughout North America.
