[LEXINGTON, Ky.] – Alltech has consolidated its focus on animal and human nutrition solutions with the divestment of its alcohol division.

Company President, Dr. Pearse Lyons, announced that the decision was made as part of the company's strategy of focusing on its animal health and emerging human health division, which represent 96% of company revenue.

In order to ensure a smooth transition for customers of its alcohol division, the company will collaborate with buyer Lallemand on a number of projects, including the Alcohol School, developed and run by Alltech for the past 20 years.

The purchase by Lallemand represents a major investment and is part of their strategy to further expand their position in the development and supply of yeasts, bacteria and other ingredients to the ethanol and beverage alcohol industries worldwide.
