The Peruvian fishing company Exalmar has announced the signing of an agreement to acquire 100% of the shares of Pesquera Centinela, a company linked to the Romero Group.

According to a company statement, this acquisition will allow for the integration of complementary equipment and processes, generating synergies and learnings. At the same time, Exalmar reaffirmed its commitment to "responsible and sustainable fishing, driving the economic, social, and environmental development of our country."

Exalmar pointed out that the change of ownership of Pesquera Centinela will not occur until a series of requirements are met, so the latter will continue to operate during the 2025-I fishing season. The financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.

With more than 32 years of experience, Pesquera Exalmar is one of the leading fishmeal and fish oil processing companies in Peru. At the end of 2024, the company achieved sales worth USD 456 million and has 22 operational vessels and five production plants with a total processing capacity of 554 metric tons per hour.

Founded in 1995, Pesquera Centinela is dedicated to the extraction and commercialization of fish (anchoveta, mackerel, and jack mackerel), as well as the production of anchoveta fishmeal and fish oil for human and animal nutrition. Centinela operates a fleet of 11 fishing vessels and three processing plants for the production of fishmeal and fish oil: one in Chimbote with a capacity of 135 tons per hour, another in Chancay with 60, and one more in Tambo de Mora with 50. In addition, the company has its own laboratories, which allows it to maintain high standards of quality and traceability throughout its production chain.
