Following the launch of MarinTrust’s Factory Standard Version 3, in May 2024, Certification Body SGS del Peru has extended its accreditation scope (ISO/IEC 17065) to include MarinTrust’s Factory Standard Version 3 audits and certification. This update, approved by Peru’s Governing Body Instituto Nacional de Calidad (INACAL), signifies another step in the global rollout of MarinTrust’s Factory Standard Version 3, reinforcing the credibility and integrity of the standard, and ensuring it remains a valuable and trusted certification for certificate holders and the value chain.

As a third-party independent certification program, MarinTrust assures that marine ingredients are certified through a recognized, rigorous, and impartial third-party audit and assessment process. MarinTrust’s Assurance Oversight System safeguards the independence and credibility of the certification process. As a Certification Body, SGS del Peru, must be recognized by the national Accreditation Body Instituto Nacional de Calidad (INACAL), to conduct audits and assessments. This scope update strengthens the rollout of MarinTrust’s Factory Standard Version 3 across the seafood industry.

"For SGS Peru, this scope update represents a key strategic step in our commitment to offering certification services aligned with the highest international standards. The inclusion of MarinTrust Version 3 under our ISO/IEC 17065 accreditation, approved by INACAL, strengthens our ability to provide rigorous, impartial, and technically competent assessments to the marine ingredient industry. This advancement not only brings confidence to international markets but also contributes to strengthening a more responsible, traceable, and transparent supply chain for certified marine ingredients," said Adriana Cardenal Ilas, business manager Cluster Perú & Ecuador, SGS del Perú SAC

“This scope extension is a pivotal phase for our continuing global rollout of MT V3. It is the result of a rigorous development and stakeholder process, and reinforces its credibility and integrity. By providing marine ingredients producers and users with certainty and traceability in their products, MarinTrust’s Factory Standard Version 3 is critical in ensuring the continuing responsible development of the industry,” said Francisco Aldon, CEO, MarinTrust.
