The Peruvian Production Ministry (PRODUCE) announced that the second anchovy fishing season in the North-Center region will start on November 1, 2024.

The quota has been fixed at 2.51 million tons, higher than the two previous ones, 2.283 million tons in 2022 and 1.682 million tons in 2023.

Sergio González Guerrero, head of PRODUCE, highlighted that the quota ranks as the third highest in the last decade for this region. "In economic terms, it will generate more than $1.3 billion in foreign currency, with anchoveta as a commodity for indirect human consumption, driving one of the country's most productive and efficient industries: fishmeal and fish oil," he stated.
