The Aquaculture Innovation Challenge (AIC) aims to find innovators boasting great sustainability solutions that target the Indonesian shrimp industry. AIC seeks for Indonesian and foreign individuals, students, start-ups, project teams, SME and other companies from all types of sectors with ground-breaking technological as well environmental and social impact ideas to compete for $125,000 prizes. Business plans can be submitted in the following specific categories:

  • Design (early stage). The innovation is in idea stage and partially developed but not yet fully conceptualized. Although the idea and the concept are strong, a real business plan has not yet fully been developed. The aim of this category is to fully develop the concept and business plan.
  • Demonstration (middle stage). Innovation is fully conceptualized, tested on a small scale (not necessarily) and all components of a business plan have already or partially been developed. The aim of this category is to fully demonstrate the innovation, commercial components and business plan.
  • Upscaling (late stage). Innovation is demonstrated to be technically and financially feasible and has a positive social and environmental impact record. A complete business plan is available and the innovation is validated on a small scale. The aim of this category is to enhance impact of the innovation.

Applications are welcome from Indonesians or internationals, as long as the innovation is applicable to the Indonesian shrimp industry. All AIC finalists will attend a three-day intensive boot camp, pushing their business plan and pitch to the next level and have the opportunity to pitch their idea to a range of possible partners and investors. Apply before March 15.
