The Guayaquil Convention Center in Ecuador will become the global aquaculture epicenter from October 21-24 with AQUAEXPO 2024, an event organized by the National Chamber of Aquaculture for nearly three decades.

This edition will feature nearly 400 booths at the trade fair. National and international companies will showcase the latest trends and innovations in the aquaculture sector, offering specialized services and products for each segment of the production chain. More than 10,000 visitors are expected to attend the event.

The conference will cover topics related to animal health, nutritional strategies, product quality and safety, production process efficiency, adoption of emerging technologies, and shrimp market outlooks, with insights from global experts across two simultaneous conference rooms. Over 30 international delegations are expected to attend.

Additionally, for the first time, AQUAEXPO will host a Sustainability Forum titled Race to the Top on October 22, organized by the Sustainable Shrimp Partnership. It will feature 35 national and international speakers participating in four key sections: governance, environment, social, and economic aspects. Representatives from organizations such as the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) will be present.

“At SSP, we aim to raise the industry's standards and lead by example, inspiring other stakeholders to join our efforts. Ecuadorian producers have already proven that it is possible to produce shrimp of the highest quality, safely for both people and the environment. This journey, which we call Race to the Top, has been shaped by commitment, discipline, and strategy, and it's the message we want to share with those in our industry and other sectors who will join us during this forum,” said Pamela Nath, director of the Sustainable Shrimp Partnership.

The inaugural ceremony will be held on October 21 in the Baquerizo Moreno Hall of the Guayaquil Convention Center and will feature a panel of national and local authorities.

“The event will serve as a showcase for the shrimp industry and for other Ecuadorian industries facing cross-cutting challenges in areas such as animal welfare and governance. This space will offer industry leaders the opportunity to learn, share experiences, and share solutions that can be applied in other fields, said José Antonio Camposano, executive president of the National Chamber of Aquaculture.
