The 6th Offshore Mariculture Conference has moved dates to September 21–24, 2015. The conference, being held in conjunction with Inapesca and Sepesca, the National and Regional Fisheries and Aquaculture representative bodies for Mexico and Baja California, and now with a side session by the FAO, will take place at the Marina Coral Hotel in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.
The change of date also creates the opportunity for delegates to visit the annual three day Baja Seafood Expo, organised by the local Baja Government. This expo will start on the 25 September and will create a perfect follow up and synergy to the Offshore Mariculture conference.
This year’s two-and-a-half day conference is being organized in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). FAO will be conducting a half-day session, open to all interested parties at no cost, as an integral part of the conference program. Topics for the Offshore Mariculture Conference and the FAO session are still being formalised and a first drafts will be released in due course.
Organised by Mercator Media Limited, publishers of World Fishing and Aquaculture, the Mexican edition will include the latest legislation, investment and financing opportunities together with the day to day practicalities of running an offshore business. A day and a half technical visits to a number of fish farms will provide delegates with an insight into their inner workings.
The 2015 Offshore Mariculture Conference Mexico will examine the prospects for and practical solutions to issues around farming offshore in Mexico, whilst keeping a close eye on the differences between inland, coastal and offshore farming and the many species available. With legislative restrictions on farming in North America, Baja California is considered an opportune investment area for offshore farming and several corporates are already running operations on the Pacific and Gulf of California sides of the Peninsula.
