High Energy Mariculture Europe (HEM), the European edition of the long running Offshore Mariculture Conference, will welcome a range of speakers from across the globe to voice their international view-points.

Speaking from the USA will be Tyler Sclodnick, Senior Scientist at InnovaSea Systems Inc, who will be discussing how geospatial analysis can be used to help select the best site for operations. Donna Lanzetta, Founder and CEO of Manna Fish Farm, will cover her ground-breaking first open ocean finfish farm in federal waters off the US East Coast. Donna will focus on the regulations and political issues encountered while selecting their operation sites, how they overcame this, and the considerations made to make it a success.

Taking an alternative look at offshore sites will be Katherine Hawes, Principal Solicitor and Barrister from Aquarius Lawyers in Australia. Katherine will use her expertise in aquaculture legislation to discuss how international law can affect high energy sites and how farms and operators will be able to trade and sell the ocean, just as land is currently dealt.

Icelandic representation comes from Matis, a technology and development organization who have been instrumental in the emergence of maximising the utilization of cod by-products. Speaking on Matis’ behalf will be Gunnar Thordarson who will talk about how the Icelandic operations are developing the by-products into a further revenue stream, in addition to how it can also be applied to other species.
