Every two years, the American Feed Industry Association’s Purchasing and Ingredient Suppliers Committee hosts the Feed Industry Institute, a one-of-a-kind event that focuses on all aspects of the feed industry. Animal nutrition, ingredients, distribution and quality—these topics and more are covered at the FII. This year’s programming will be hosted in downtown St. Louis, Missouri, June 11-14.

The classroom-style setting arms participants with a wealth of information about nutrition, ingredients, quality programs, legislation and regulations. Participants also benefit from learning who to contact when questions arise long after the event is over.

Participation Reaped Benefits for Previous Participants

“The Feed Industry Institute is an excellent, cost-effective opportunity to provide training and education to new employees,” said Allan Schultz, vice president of technical services for Vita Plus Corporation. “We have always received very positive comments from our employees who have attended the FII. They cite the excitement of building new relationships, learning opportunities and increased knowledge they gained about segments of the feed industry they never even had considered. We have also found that attendees appreciated the investment that our company has made to further their career. Through participation in FII, Vita Plus has gained engaged employees who are more knowledgeable about our business, helping to prepare them for increased responsibilities within our company.”

“The Feed Industry Institute began in 1980, and Prince has had employee-students in attendance at every institute,” said Michael D. Bernhardt, manager, feed ingredient sales, Prince Agri Products. “We feel there is a three-way win: One, it’s a terrific education about our industry; two, it offers networking with about 100 individuals who are also in the feed industry; and three, the opportunity to meet experts (the presenters), in almost every aspect of the feed industry and then be able to use these folks as mentors.”

“We have found the Feed Industry Institute to be a good forum for new employees to learn the ‘nuts and bolts’ of the feed industry,” said Kevin Larson, director of national accounts for Diamond V. “In one week, they have the chance to learn from industry leaders about many facets of our industry. The program is informative and useful for future reference. In addition, the opportunity to network with peers from the feed industry is a bonus.”
