Standard Research Diet (SRD) Workshop 'Egg to Market, Research Studies, SRD Formulations and Feed Manufacturing", Waimanalo, Hawaii, USA - October 27 - 28, 2010
The Aquatic Feeds and Nutrition Department, Oceanic Institute, Hawaii will host the Standard Research Diet (SRD) Workshop on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 - Thursday, October 28th, 2010.
Nutritionists and processing specialists will discuss SRD diet formulation and demonstrate extrusion set-up and processing for several species that are cultured or have potential for culture in Hawaii: Shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei); Pacific Threadfin “Moi” (Polydactylus sexfilis); Longfin Amber Jack “Kahala” (Seriola rivoliana); Abalone (Haliotis discus hannai); Limpets “Opihi” (Cellana talcosa);Urchin “Uni” (Strongylocentrotus droebachiensis & Lytechinus variegates).
Chaired by Dr. Warren Dominy, Director, Aquatic Feeds and Nutrition Department, Oceanic Institute, the workshop will include talks by Dr. Addison Lawrence, Professor, Texas A&M University, Dr. Dong Fang Deng, Research Scientist, Oceanic Institute, Mr. Ryan Murashige, CEO, Hukilau Foods, Mr. Neil Sims, V.P. & co-founder of Kona Blue and Mr. Peter Hutchinson, Director, EN Hutchinson Ltd. New Zealand.
Extruder setup, processing runs and QC tests will be demonstrated by Mr. Peter Hutchinson, Director, EN Hutchinson Ltd. New Zealand and Mr. Ward Kashiwa, Research Associate, Oceanic Institute.
