The Sustainable Shrimp Partnership (SSP) and the National Chamber of Aquaculture (CNA) launched a program to develop sustainable management of hatcheries.

In order to enhance practices in the shrimp aquaculture industry, these organizations have identified the need to establish sustainability guidelines for the first stage in the production chain. For this reason, an improvement project has been formulated, consisting of the implementation and development of good production practices for hatcheries.

“Through this program, we are innovating as a sector, leading the way for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, and providing a response to climate change. With this initiative, we aim to prepare and support hatcheries during the implementation and development of best production practices that lead to sustainability in the industry,” expressed Pamela Nath, director of SSP.

Similarly, the executive president of CNA, José Antonio Camposano, stated that “the shrimp industry is called to evolve towards more responsible and efficient practices, requiring a collective commitment. For this reason, ensuring sustainable management in hatcheries is vital, as it not only ensures greater organism survival but also significantly contributes to the environmental and social performance of the entire industry.”
