It is with great sadness that we learned this week of the passing of Dr. Andrew F. Giesen. Drew was best known for his distinguished carreer in poultry research and laterly in aquafeeds. He was viewed as a multi-species thought leader among animal scientists around the world and many of us consider ourselves privileged to call him a friend.
Drew was active in the Poultry Science Association, representing PSA on the Federation of Animal Science Societies (FASS) Board of Directors since 2007 and became president of FASS. He also served terms as director and vice president of the World’s Poultry Science Association–USA Branch and president of the Southern Poultry Science Society.
Drew was well known to many of us in the aquaculture comunity for his work at Novus International Inc. in research, product development, technical service, and sales and marketing, working globally across a of range species—terrestrial and aquatic, domestic and exotic. He was an active member of the AFIA aquaculture committee.
Aquafeed extends it deep condolences to his family, particularly his wife, Linda and two children, Joe and Carrie.
