Dubai-based aquaculture firm, Aqua Bridge Group, unveiled plans to construct an aquafeed mill, a large-scale aquaculture farm and aquatic research center in the Indian city of Unnao, Uttar Pradesh.

According to the group, the Intensive Aquaculture Farm & Aquatic Research Center aims to be a game-changing project. “This transformational project is set to redefine sustainable fisheries and food security in India, addressing local market gaps while driving large-scale aquaculture development,” the group said in a LinkedIn post. The project is a partnership with the UPAGREES program of the World Bank and the government of Uttar Pradesh.

According to the group, the project will feature a 1-million-ton aquafeed plant. The feed mill is in its final stages and aims to ensure sustainable and efficient feed solutions for India's growing aquaculture sector.

The center will also include a 300-million fry hatchery for large-scale seed production to support inland and coastal aquaculture, and a 27,000 MT fish farm with modern, high-intensity aquaculture systems.

The center will also offer a training program for farmers, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to enhance productivity, sustainability, and profitability, and a cutting-edge R&D center dedicated to advancing genetics, disease management, and optimized farming techniques to close critical market gaps.

“This project is a step toward self-sufficiency, creating a world-class hub for research, training, and innovation in aquaculture,” the company said.

Aqua Bridge Group recently took over Avramar Greek assets.
