Aquafeed.com is excited to announce the launch of its new website in Spanish, created to better serve professionals in the aquafeed and aquaculture industries across Latin America and Spain.

According to FAO’s State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture (SOFIA) report, Latin America and the Caribbean have significant untapped development potential. In 2022, the region produced 4.3 million tonnes of aquaculture products, representing approximately 3.3% of global production. While this makes the region the world’s second-largest aquaculture producer, it remains far behind Asia, which accounts for 91.4% of global output.

Currently, a few countries dominate aquaculture production in Latin America and the Caribbean. Chile and Ecuador together contribute 53% of the region’s total aquatic animal production, with both ranking among the world’s top ten aquaculture-producing nations.
