Aquafeed.com is pleased to announce the expansion of its presence in the Chinese aquafeed market through a dedicated WeChat channel.
China is the world’s largest aquaculture and aquafeed producer. With 52.884 million MT produced in 2023, projections for growth are expected to reach 60.516 million MT in 2032, according to FAO’s The State of World Fisheries and Aquaculture 2024 – Blue Transformation in action.

Recognizing the importance of local insight and engagement, Aquafeed.com has teamed up with Dr. Zhihua Pei to lead this initiative. Dr. Zhihua Pei has studied and lived in both China and the United States, and has worked in the global aquaculture feed industry for almost two decades through several leadership roles at two leading aquaculture nutrition companies.
“With Zhihua’s deep industry experience, we’re well-positioned to explore new opportunities and better serve stakeholders in China and beyond,” said Lucía Barreiro, publisher and editor of Aquafeed.com.
“As the largest aquafeed producer in the world, China plays a significant role in the global aquaculture feed industry. As a high-quality media platform, Aquafeed.com has built a strong reputation in the industry over the years. I am excited to work with Lucía and her team to strengthen the exchange of information between China and the rest of the world," said Zhihua.
The new WeChat channel will serve as a gateway to industry news, insights, and innovations, tailored specifically to the Chinese market. The goal is to create a bridge between Chinese stakeholders and the global aquafeed industry, while complementing Aquafeed.com’s English and Spanish platforms.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to global industry engagement and innovation, while remaining focused on science-based solutions and responsible growth,” Lucía added.
