BioMar Chile will provide a new support service, not available in the market, with field veterinary specialists to improve the performance of salmon farms, since its main challenges are associated with fish health.

Reducing the use of antibiotics, minimizing the mortality and increasing or maintaining the animal welfare in culture are priority aspects not only for the productive results of salmon farmers but also for the different interest groups linked to this industry. 

“In the delivery of technical support to our clients, the health and sanitary aspect has always been present. However, we believe it is essential to meet the specific demands and concerns of our clients with a structured, systematized area and with clear objectives in the line of health. That is why we created BioFarm Health, led by Alin Casado, with the support of Manuel Salas, both veterinarians specialized in fish health,” explained Michael Adler, BioMar's commercial manager. 

Casado and Salas have been part of BioMar for several years. They have specialized in supporting fish feeding and farming strategies from the animal health and welfare perspective and have extensive specific knowledge about BioMar’s diets and nutritional solutions associated with the various challenges that arise in the field.

In this way, BioMar begins 2021 with this specific support. BioFarm Health, led by Alin Casado, will work hand-in-hand with BioFarm, the technical assistance team led by Eduardo Suazo. Casado, who has more than ten years of experience in fish health, explained that in recent months they have been developing a work strategy based on two fundamental pillars, fish health and animal welfare, whose advances and actions will be seen within the year.
