Cargill in Norway has achieved Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) Feed Certification for its feed production sites located in Florø, Halsa and Bergneset.
“This certification reflects our commitment to advancing environmental and social responsibility in aquaculture,” said Cargill strategic marketing & technology leader, Sigurd Tonheim.
The ASC Feed standard is a demanding and comprehensive standard that aims to ensure that feed production for aquaculture is carried out in a sustainable manner, both for the environment and people. It applies to factory operations, the raw materials used and their production.
Achieving this certification has involved completing a rigorous and comprehensive audit process, which has included adhering to environmental, social and governance standards, extensive supply chain assessment, and more.
Tonheim emphasizes the importance of the certification for Cargill. “It is not only an important milestone in our sustainability strategy. The certification ensures our customers with ASC-certified farms with access to ASC-compliant feed, which is crucial as they have until October 2025 to change their feed supply to maintain their certifications. Achieving this certification is a result of hard work and dedication by many teams in cross-functional collaborations,” Tonheim stated.
Cargill has recently achieved ASC feed certification for its production plants in Chile and Canada, and in March its Scotland plant EWOS Ltd. will be audited for the ASC Feed standard.
