With this achievement, all of Cargill’s feed operations supplying EWOS feed for salmonids are certified according to the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) Feed Standard.

“Achieving certifications for all our factories supplying EWOS-feed plays an important role in our commitment towards a greater environmental and social responsibility in aquaculture and is a result of good work and dedication by a cross-functional team,” said Cargill strategic marketing & technology leader, Sigurd Tonheim.

ASC is considered one of the toughest fish farming standards to meet. The ASC Feed Standard applies to factory operations, the raw materials used and their production. From October 31 2025, all ASC-certified fish farms must feed their fish with feed from plants that are certified against the ASC Feed Standard to retain their certification.

EWOS Ltd, which is Cargill’s feed operations in Westfield, Scotland, follows Cargill’s feed plants in Norway and Chile, which were certified earlier this year. These plants produce feed for salmon and trout. Cargill (EWOS) in Surrey, Canada, earned its certification last year, and produces feed for a variety of species including salmon, seabass, seabream, kingfish, cobia, tilapia and more.

“ASC certifications of our factories ensure that all our operations and collaborative partners across the value chain remain responsible and transparent, and contribute to strengthening the credibility of salmon farming,” Tonheim states. “Our customers with ASC-certified farms can now rest assured that they can keep relying on us to maintain their certifications when the new ASC certification rules apply from October.”
