Corbion is looking for a commercial move into shrimp farming. Jill Kauffman Johnson, Head of global market development for algae in Corbion, revealed to Undercurrentnews that the company had hired business development managers for Southeast Asia and Latin America. Fuci Guo in Southeast Asia and Thalles Vinicius Pessolato de Oliveira in Latin America will reinforce this strategy.

BioMar and Corbion are also “in talks” about the inclusion of AlgaPrime™ DHA in shrimp feed in Ecuador. This step follows the successful inclusion of AlgaPrime™ DHA in salmon feed.

Developed to reduce dependency on marine fisheries and enhance the nutritional value of seafood, AlgaPrime™ DHA is a native, whole algae ingredient that contains approximately three times the level of DHA of fish oil. AlgaPrime™ DHA is a clean and sustainably produced ingredient through fermentation-based cultivation with non-GM cane sugar as a feedstock. It allows incorporation at high levels without concerns of PCB and dioxin accumulation that can be an issue for some forage fish and fish oil.
