De Heus is expanding business across Asia in countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia, and India, and recently inaugurated a feed premix production plant at the Song May Industrial Park, Dong Nai, Vietnam.

Attending the inauguration ceremony were Phung Duc Tien, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Daniel Stock, Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City HCM, the Dutch Agricultural Counselor in Vietnam, and representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and leaders of Dong Nai.

With a production capacity of 60,000 tons, this new plant will be the first to supply De Heus’ vitamins and nutritional supplements in Vietnam, as well as in Asia.

“De Heus has built several premix factories in Europe, but this is the first vitamin and nutritional supplement factory of the De Heus Group in Vietnam as well as throughout Asia. After acquiring Masan's animal feed segment, De Heus' total feed production in Vietnam has doubled. Along with the increasingly strong development of De Heus in Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, and India, the demand for nutritional supplements for livestock is huge. Premix can be likened to a snail in a machine, although small, but occupying a very important place in the livestock chain. Therefore, De Heus decided to invest in a new factory in Vietnam to ensure product quality, thereby helping farmers reduce costs, increase livestock efficiency, and increase competitiveness in the market,” said Gabor Fluit, De Heus’ general director of Asia.

The company decided to open its new plant in Asia to increase its presence in a market where local premix animal feed suppliers are consolidating and, at the same time, some customers manufacture their feed demanding both highly specialized products and premixes, generating new commercial opportunities for the company. Additionally, the volume of premixes that De Heus needs for its complete feed and specialties has become so substantial that the company finds more advantages in producing it.

At the beginning of 2021, the company began discussions with Masan and decided to acquire one of its factories in Dong Nai. The Dong Nai premix factory was adapted to De Heus’ standards improving its infrastructure and renewing the premix tower with new equipment.
