The Suez Canal Aquaculture Company, a subsidiary of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Spain’s Grupo Tejedor Lázaro to strengthen cooperation in fisheries, aquaculture, fish farm management, and feed production.
The agreement was signed during the Excellence Day celebration and witnessed by Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly, who emphasized Egypt’s commitment to forging strategic partnerships with global companies to benefit from international expertise across vital sectors.
Prime Minister Madbouly stated that the MoU supports the government’s goals of promoting sustainable food systems and reflects the momentum created by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s recent visit to Spain, which aimed to deepen economic and investment ties between the two nations.
According to Madbouly, the collaboration directly contributes to Egypt’s food security strategy by accelerating progress in fisheries and aquaculture, industries that have shown strong development in recent years. The agreement also aims to strengthen feed production capabilities, a critical component in supporting the aquaculture sector’s growth.
Officials view the partnership as a step toward modernizing Egypt’s aquaculture industry, enhancing productivity, and creating a foundation for long-term cooperation with international leaders in marine and agricultural technologies.
Present in over 65 countries and with headquarters in Fuentepelayo (Segovia, Spain), Santander (Cantabria, Spain) and Helvicovice (Žamberk, Czech Republic), Grupo Tejedor Lázaro is made up of five main business units belonging to two groups: Derwent Group and Dibaq Group. Derwent Group offers its clients a large team of specialised professionals and a wide range of services, such as design and development of engineering projects for marine farms and animal food factories, raw materials trading services, and manufacturing and internationalization of animal nutrition products. Dibaq Group is the animal feed business brand of the group.
