The first trial production of tilapia feed took place at the new BioMar factory in Costa Rica May 17, 2012.

Felipe Ureta, Vice President of BioMar Americas, said at the occasion that he is very pleased that the preparation for the commercial launch of the factory is progressing according to schedule. The official inauguration of the factory will take place in July and a completely new feed range for tilapia based on the most advanced nutritional knowledge will be made available for fish farmers across Central America in the following months.

"We are at the moment starting out with a limited production and we will then gradually increase production as our production team gains experience with the new factory, said Felipe Ureta. The new feed factory is the most modern one in Central America, and it is equipped with state-of-the-art production technology and this of course requires that all staff members are well trained and that all the right procedures are in place".

"We are very focused on implementing exactly the same high standards for the production as our customers know from other BioMar factories and we are preparing the factory so it complies with the major certifications required by customers,"  Ureta concluded.
