Fredrikstad Seafoods and BioMar Norway extended their long-term RAS feed agreement for three more years. Fredrikstad Seafoods and BioMar have already been collaborating to develop a sustainable feed recipe for the RAS facility in Fredrikstad.

“We have been working closely with BioMar for several years now and have achieved satisfactory results. Therefore, it makes sense to continue the good cooperation going forward,” said Roger Fredriksen, Fredrikstad Seafoods’ CEO. “We are going to produce tasty, high-quality salmon, raised on feed from sustainable and nutritious raw materials. We see BioMar as a competent and forward-looking supplier that is well advanced on sustainability.”

Fredrikstad Seafoods started its production at the RAS facility in Fredrikstad in 2019 and currently supplies salmon to the Norwegian and European markets. Fredrikstad Seafoods is part of Nordic Aquafarms, which produces kingfish on land in Denmark. They are also planning to build RAS facilities in North America on both US coasts that will produce Atlantic salmon.

“We are very pleased that Fredrikstad Seafoods wants to extend the agreement, and look forward to continuing our cooperation,” said BioFarm manager, Oda Skognes Høyland, BioMar Norway. “Our strong focus at BioMar continues to be on the development of innovative and sustainable feed solutions, and together with Fredrikstad Seafoods, we will keep moving this exciting project within the RAS segment forward,” concluded Høyland.
