Hawaii WSSV-free once again
Quarantine Order No.115, dated June 16, 2008, placing the premises owned By Sunrise Capital LLC Kona Bay Marine Resources under quarantine for White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV) infection of shrimp, has been rescinded effective February 25, 2009.
The clean-up plan, including Polymerase Chain Reaction testing of 150 re-introduced specific pathogen free (SPF) shrimp, has been successfully completed, and laboratory tests have confirmed that WSSV infection is not present.
This rescindment by the Hawaii Department of Agriculture now re-establishes Hawaii as a "WSSV-free" State. [Source: Hawaii Aquaculture Association]
