The official opening of the newly built aquafeed plant took place in Honduras on Saturday 10 August. The US$11.5 million plant is a joint venture between Nutreco/Skretting, Gisis Ecuador and Regal Springs. The new plant will produce feed for the Regal Springs’ tilapia farming activities in Honduras as well as shrimp feed for the local and export market.

\"The aquafeed plant is an important step in the Nutreco strategy ‘Ambition 2016’. Production here is aligned with our strategy to increase our market share in Latin America and to increase sales of feed for non-salmon species. The partnership in Honduras is a consequence of the acquisition of Gisis in Ecuador which was finalized in June 2013\", Viggo Halseth, Chief Operating Officer of Nutreco Aquaculture, commented.

Jacobo Regalado, Minister of Agriculture of Honduras, officially opened the newly built plant at an event attended by executives from the participating companies. The Minister cutting the ribbon at the opening ceremony.
