After nine years with IFFO and over 40 years working in the fish industry, IFFO Technical Director Andrew Jackson has announced that he will be retiring at the end of 2015. Dr. Jackson will not be leaving the IFFO family completely as he will stay on as the part time chairman of the IFFO Responsible Supply Certification Programme (IFFO RS) standard, an enterprise which he helped launch back in 2009. IFFO will be appointing a new Technical Director to take over from Jackson from January 2016. (More information about this post is available here).

Dr. Jackson has been a core part of the IFFO team and his work has been pivotal in driving the marine ingredients industry forward. It was very fitting that, in his last year of working full time, he was given the prestigious Seafood Champion award at the Seaweb Seafood Summit in New Orleans in February, recognizing the contribution he has made to not just IFFO but the wider seafood industry.

\"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with IFFO and have seen many changes both within the organization and within the industry as a whole\". Jackson said.

\"I have seen IFFO develop considerably and add a range of new services for its members. It has managed to gain a much stronger voice in the world of fisheries and aquaculture through its work with a range of governments and international bodies and the launching of its Responsible Supply standard (IFFO RS). The industry has adopted many new practices including, in many cases, becoming a strong advocate for better fisheries management. The result of this hard work is that fishmeal and fish oil are increasingly being seen as strategic ingredients, which are produced from responsibly sourced raw materials and we have seen a steady rise in prices reflecting their unique nutritional qualities for both animals and humans\".
