Jimmy Lim, founder and president of the Institute of Aquaculture Singapore and industry veteran passed away on February 5.

Lim was a strong advocate of sustainable aquaculture and spearheaded and co-organized numerous large-scale aquaculture-related events such as AquaSG and Aquatainment Symposium. He provided consulting services to farmers in different countries at his own cost, and as a result, he fostered many friendships with farmers all around the world.

Lim freely shared his experiences on the obstacles and difficulties facing farming and how some of these issues could be overcome with sustainable practices. During his final term as IAS president, Jimmy secured several MoUs and contracts with institutes around the world and established networks across Asia, Europe and the Americas.

“This morning, we lost our founder, our president and our friend, we would like to thank everyone for their support towards IAS all these years. We will continue to do our best for this institution and legacy that Jimmy has left for us,” the Institute of Aquaculture Singapore said.
