BioMar announced that Netflix has forced Seaspiracy to retract their claim that it takes 5-20 kg of forage fish to make 1 kg of salmon. The claims will be removed from both on their website and in the documentary.

The documentary raised a wide range of issues relating to our oceans, including questioning the credibility of sustainable seafood and that eating seafood should stop completely. The aquaculture and fisheries industries, as well as marine scientists, refuted the claims made in the documentary due to its biased approach.

“It’s important that we come together as one seafood industry to call out the disinformation. BioMar has stepped up on behalf of the aquaculture feed industry and we look forward to seeing others do the same in their specific fields,” BioMar said.
