Scotiabank estimates that in 2014 fish meal, production fell 39% and predicts anchovy and fish meal exports will grow 12% in 2015.
The Managing Committee of the National Study of El Niño (ENFEN) reports a climate warmer than predicted will hit the Peruvian waters in the summer of 2015, which will favor production of anchovy.
The bank projects a catch of 3.5 million metric tons of anchoveta in 2015, up 53% compared to the estimate for 2014 (2.3 million MT).
