The ban on fishing for common and white anchovy (samasa) will begin July 18, 2004 at midnight. It will cover the usual areas from the northern border to parallel 16º00`S but exclusing the southern ports (e.g. Atico, Planchaca, Mollendo, Ilo).
Hammersmith Marketing says the date for the end of the fishing ban has not been officially announced but is expected to last 90 days, depending on biomass developent and meteorological conditions.
