Recent developments in FEFANA National Platforms in Austria and Denmark
During a meeting that took place in Vienna on 8 October 2009, the FEFANA Member companies based in Austria formally formed its own National Platform. From now on, the interests of FEFANA Austrian Members will be represented through this Platform, ensuring stronger visibility in the country as well as across the wider FEFANA structure.
FEFANA was already very active in this country, but the increased number of meetings with the national authorities and other relevant events demanded for a more formal representation in Austria. It is the main reason why the Platform has just been adopted.
The founding Members of the new Platform are:

• DSM Nutritional Products
• Lactosan GmbH & Co.KG
• Lohmann Animal Health
Frank Chmitelin, President of FEFANA, welcomed this initiative which he said would bring a more official representation to Austrian Members and therefore lead to a better defence of the interests shown by the feed additive and premixture industry in that country.

Karsten Poulsen, new Chairman of FEFANA Denmark
FEFANA Denmark unanimously elected Karsten Poulsen (Trouw Nutrition) as its new chairman during a meeting that took place in Copenhagen on Friday 29 January 2010. Tribute was also paid to his predecessor, Svend Laulund (Chr. Hansen), who chaired the Platform for the last two and a half years. Karsten Poulsen took the opportunity to thank him for his hard work on behalf of the Platform.
The FEFANA secretariat is looking forward to providing support and collaboration to the new Chairman, hoping this new stage will offer new successes and opportunities for the Danish feed additive and premixture industry.
FEFANA works as an integrated European network, assuring its representation in the EU Member States via National Platforms. This includes representation vis-à-vis national authorities and industry partners, and information to and coordination with national feed additive and premixture operators. FEFANA believes that active communication with its partners at national level is fundamental and it remains a priority for the organization, as it sets the basis of a good working relationship.
