Turning polluted air into fish feed ingredient

NovoNutrients has developed a proprietary process which uses microbes to convert CO2 from industrial emissions into a feed ingredient for fish and other animals. NovoMeal is a nutritionally balanced, single-cell protein meal derived from a consortium of non-GMO, GRAS* microbes. It is a complete protein, with all ten essential amino acids needed by fish, as well as necessary fatty acids, vitamins, anti-oxidants and minerals. In addition to NovoMeal, NovoNutrients is also developing a line of feed additives.

NovoNutrients has developed a proprietary process which uses microbes to convert CO2 from industrial emissions into food for fish and other animals.

NovoMeal is a nutritionally balanced, single-cell protein meal derived from a consortium of non-GMO, GRAS* microbes. These microbes are grown by fermenting a mixture of CO2 and hydrogen gases. NovoMeal is a suitable feed for the aquaculture, livestock, and poultry markets. Like fishmeal, it is a complete protein, with all ten essential amino acids needed by fish, as well as necessary fatty acids, vitamins, anti-oxidants and minerals.

NovoNutrients employs a natural fermentation process to capture and convert CO2 and other forms of waste carbon into NovoMeal. The process is similar to those used in producing other fermented food products like tofu, beer, wine, cheese, yogurt, and yeast. During fermentation, a consortium of naturally occurring, non-GMO, single-cell microorganisms works symbiotically to fix (capture) carbon dioxide, converting it into organic building blocks for growth and reproduction. After fermentation, the microbes are harvested, dried, pelletized and packaged into a high protein, fish-free feed (F3) ingredient suitable for aquaculture and other forms of animal feed.

In addition to NovoMeal, NovoNutrients is also developing NovoCeuticals, a line of specialty feed additives containing carotenoids, fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

David Tze, CEO, Novo Nutrients will discuss “Comparing Novel Single Cell Protein Technologies For Economical Fishmeal Replacement” at the 11th Aquafeed Horizons Asia conference in Bangkok, March 27. 2018. Visit http://feedconferences.com for details.
