U.S. Organic Aquaculture Symposium will help shape regulations
The process to develop and approve national organic standards for aquaculture has reached another critical crossroads in the United States.
The following provides detailed information on a special Organic Aquaculture Symposium that will address two critical issues to assist the USDA National Organic Standards Board in formulating recommendations. It is urgent and critical for highly qualified individuals to participate in this planned event.
Within the overall public arena, the two topics (open net pens and fish meal/oil) are the most commonly discussed and likewise controversial. Please note carefully the request by NOSB to obtain scientific and academic input on both issues.
The symposium is scheduled for November 27, 2007 and will precede the Fall 2007 meeting of the National Organic Standards Board scheduled for November 28-30 in Washington, DC.
