K-State College of Agriculture now offers Feed Science as a minor program (17 credit hours) that can be taken while working on a bachelor’s degree or to add on to a bachelor’s degree already held.
Designed to increase students’ knowledge of animal feed manufacturing technology, this minor also provides students with a skill set to help them find employment within the grain industry. Students will also learn techniques in selection and application of equipment required to develop specific types of feeds. This 17-credit-hour minor allows students to understand the needs of the specialized agricultural industry.
Applications must be approved by the Grain Science and Industry Undergraduate Program Committee and have completed or be completing all necessary graduate requirements from an accredited four-year university. They must complete the required courses with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
The undergraduate minor in feed science incorporates online learning with a one-time, on-campus lab experience to educate students on how to properly analyze, process and produce animal feeds. This minor is open to students approved by the Grain Science and Industry Undergraduate Program Committee with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. Students must be currently enrolled or have completed all necessary graduate requirements from an accredited four-year university.
Minors available in grain science are available to anyone working on a bachelor’s degree from any accredited four year institution or has a bachelor’s degree from any accredited four year institution. Other minors available are Animal Sciences and Industry, (requires 15 credits) and Food Science and Industry, (requires 15 credits).
