Victam Asia 2006 Officially Opened by the Deputy General Department of Livestock Development

At 10 O’clock on Wednesday, March 8, the Deputy Director, Thai  Department of Livestock Development addressed the assembled visitors, conference delegates and exhibitors at Victam Asia 2006, Asia Pacific’s largest dedicated trade show and conferences for the animal feed, aquafeed, petfood and grain processing industries.

On welcoming the assembly to Bangkok Dr. Chaweewan Leowijuk said in her speech that it is important for Thailand to host such an exhibition and conferences and that through co-operation with the many participants at the event that the animal feed, aquafeed and grain processing industries would flourish in both Thailand and the other countries throughout South East Asia.

The President of the Victam Foundation, Mr. Hans Noordenbos thanked the many exhibitors from all over the world who are participating at the trade show as well as the visitors who have come from throughout the Asia  Pacific region to attend the event.

By the middle of the afternoon of the first day over 1,500 visitors had entered the trade show, with a further 150 conference delegates attending the workshop on aquafeed, organised by Hawaii-based Aquafeed.com, the aquafeed information portal.

Dr. Juadee Pongmaneerat of the Department of Fisheries opened the Aquafeed Workshop and stressed the importance of the development of safe feed for the aquaculture industries of both Thailand and its neighbors.

The Ambassador of the Netherlands, Mr. Pieter J. Th. Marres in his address emphasized the importance of protein for the diet of the expanding population of the world.

Victam Asia 2006 is open daily until Friday, March 10 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok. Entrance to visit the trade show where there are 130 exhibitors displaying the latest technology and ingredients for animal feed, aquafeed, petfood and grain processing industries is free.
