Vitapro, through its Nicovita brand, has become the main feed supplier for its client Empacadora San Lorenzo, the largest shrimp producer in Central America. The quality and specialization of its nutritional solutions, as well as the after-sales support it provides to its clients, were key aspects in consolidating a new stage in this commercial relationship.

This aquafeed supply agreement will be in effect for 2025 and 2026, achieving solid long-term growth for Vitapro. For Empacadora San Lorenzo, the benefits are also significant, mainly ensuring specialized nutrition for its crops with a solution that will maximize its profitability, as it comes from production plants exclusively dedicated to shrimp feed, which in turn reduces the risk of cross-contamination, in accordance with the highest standards in animal health and nutrition.

“The technical support we provide to our clients was also fundamental in the consolidation of this agreement. Precisely, in order to strengthen and innovate its production model, Empacadora San Lorenzo is currently in a process of technification of its farms, where Vitapro becomes a fundamental ally in the necessary advice at all stages of cultivation (hatchery, grow-out and harvesting of shrimp), covering technological aspects such as what equipment to use and how to use it, to sanitary control issues,” explained Iván Gustavo Chang Cerrón, general manager of Vitapro Central America, in a press release.

Vitapro's commitment to sustainability was another key element. Its approach to contributing to the development of aquaculture, through the three action axes of its roadmap —promoting healthy nutrition and well-being, transforming the value chain and caring for the environment— has been a fundamental link in generating trust in the market.

The certifications and high operating standards, such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, GLOBAL GAP, BAP and ASC, offered by Vitapro were also decisive in the agreement. Shrimp buyers demand that their clients, in this case Empacadora San Lorenzo, have duly certified suppliers, as guaranteed by Vitapro, which is currently even in the process of ASC Feed certification.

Juan Carlos Javier, CEO of Empacadora San Lorenzo, pointed out that in his group's development and growth strategy, “this alliance represents a fundamental step in improving the profitability of the business, by having an ally that guarantees efficient nutrition and ensures optimal shrimp production, without losses and with total quality, in accordance with market demands.”
