The ‘World Resources Report: Creating a Sustainable Food Future’ shows that it is possible. The report is the result of a multiyear partnership between World Resources Institute, the World Bank Group, the United Nations Environment Program, the United Nations Development Program, the Centre de coopération internationale en recherche agronomique pour le développement, and the Institut national de la recherche agronomique.
The report offers a five-course menu of solutions to ensure we can feed 10 billion people by 2050 without increasing emissions, fueling deforestation or exacerbating poverty that includes:
- Reduce growth in demand for food and other agricultural products.
- Increase food production without expanding agricultural land.
- Protect and restore natural ecosystems and limit agricultural land-shifting.
- Increase fish supply.
- Reduce greenhouse gas emissions from agricultural production.
