It remains to be seen whether global and regional fish trade can continue to support food and nutrition security and economic growth in fish exporting countries, in the face of climate-induced resource shifts and inflexible market-based measures and trade-tightening policies such as new IUU regulations in the EU. This paper offers a preliminary exploration of the continued challenges to achieve sustainable fish production and trade and the possible additional hurdles climate change may present.
