AB Vista has developed a smart new solution whereby data from different NIR instruments can be combined into a single database used for predicting unknown samples, thus allowing customers to benefit from a more diverse single repository of data.

NIR is growing in popularity as the technology becomes more sophisticated, enabling users to look beyond proximate analysis for a detailed insight into substrate composition. What this means, however, is that the operation becomes more complex, with multiple variables, instruments and platforms increasing the potential margin for error, the company stated.

The new solution will be presented by experts from AB Vista’s specialist NIR division, Aunir, at the International NIR 2019 conference that will be held in Australia from September 15 – 20.

Chris Piotrowski, Director of Aunir, will also talk about calibration. Piotrowski said that the quality of data and calibrations are critical to the accuracy of NIR results. “Near-infrared is a secondary technique, and will only learn the information as given, so calibrations need to be built with as much insight as possible. At Aunir, we can access current global data, to build calibrations swiftly and accurately. Worldwide access is vital in NIR, it is important to cover global varieties, the impact of weather and the impact of different species,” Piotrowski said.
