BASF has announced a delay in the resumption of vitamin and carotenoid production following an incident earlier this year at its Ludwigshafen facility in Germany. A fire occurred at the plant on July 29, 2024, affecting the production of aroma ingredients and precursors for vitamin A, vitamin E, and carotenoids. This led to a shutdown and subsequent supply disruption.

Vitamin A production is now expected to resume in April 2025, with vitamin E and carotenoids following in July 2025. The company also noted that it will take several months after production restarts to fully rebuild inventory levels and return to "business as usual."

Production of certain aroma ingredients, including pyranol, Methylionone 70, and DL-Menthol FG, is set to resume in the last week of October 2024. Other aroma ingredients will gradually come back online between April and June 2025.

BASF emphasized that these timelines are based on current information and may be subject to change.
